Leela Sute is 70 today. Coming from a community ostracized as Dalit, her only expectation is that “Human beings should treat each other as human beings”.
She managed to study till 10th. A person who earlier was not allowed to enter higher caste household, used to be given tea in cracked cups, now is in regular interaction with about 1,500 women and more in 50 villages. She guides them to economic self independence, also exhorts them to fight injustice, violence and inequality, and also to be vocal socially and politically.
An independent and outspoken personality she has obliterated the caste lines between women and looks after SHGs and Federation activities.
